A Message To Parents

A Note Regarding Practicing:

To become proficient in the Martial Arts, it is very important to “invest” in yourself, by repeating the movements daily or every other day, if you wish. The more you repeat the movements, the quicker you will progress and the better you will feel about yourself with respect to your physical abilites. It has been said, “practice it so you can depend on it.” Some people have found that if you set a ‘review time’ aside for fifteen minutes a day, that this helps you stay consistent

How to be a Martial Arts coach at Home

Step 1: DEVELOP A CONSISTENT PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Start out slow, but be sure to set aside a specific time. For example, decide to train at home on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. Perhaps this could be a good break before you begin your schoolwork.

Step 2: KEEP PRACTICING SHORT
Training at home for 15 minutes a day ensures that you get practice in, without overwhelming yourself. You may want to start out with 10 minutes and work your way up to 15. It is easy to say “I can train tomorrow,” but if you know that it is only for 15 minutes, you are more likely to make the time.

Step 3: REWARD EFFORT
Positive reinforcement does a world of good. Tell your child, “Good form” or “great kick.” Parents, just remember to watch everything your child does, encourage often, and correct little.

Step 4: MAKE IT FUN
Students- teach your parents the new move you have learned in class. Not only is this a good way to practice, but it also builds self-esteem, and gets paretns and kids working together.

Parents, serve as a White Belt coach, and watch your child’s progress soar as you grow together!!
